Bob Monkhouse OBE was a comedian, writer and television presenter who rose to fame during the 1950s. Enjoying a run of successful film and television roles, he also worked alongside writing partner Denis Goodwin until 1962. Monkhouse was a prolific writer for other stars, both British and international artists performing in the UK and needing locally relevant material. After a long stint hosting game shows through the 1970s and 80s, his popularity as a stand-up rose again during the 1990s. He died from prostate cancer in 2003.
